The Asian Poker Tour Philippines Day 2 PHP 10 Million (₹1.34 Crores) GTD Main Event played out on Sunday. A total of 223 players returned for Day 2 play with registration open till the start of second level and an additional 74 entries joined in. The tournament set a new series record with 503 runners in the Philippines.
A sizeable prize pool of PHP 24,395,500 (₹3.26 Crores) was generated at the event with 70 players left standing for Day 3. India’s Yasheel Doddanavar is the one among them still in contention to win the title and PHP 5,085,400 (₹68.13 Lakhs) top prize. He had come in through Day 1A with a stack of 85,300 and did well to spin it up to 115,000.
Leading the survivors is Marc Rivera. Rivera recently scored a third-place finish at the PokerStars Players NLHE Championship in the Bahamas this January and is widely acknowledged as one of the top poker players in the Philippines. He entered the Main Event late but didn’t wasted time to climb up the ranks. He closed Day 2 with a stack of 438,000, ahead of Ivan Tabucal (414,000) and Korea’s Jung Seung Mook (394,500).
