WSOP to host charity Poker tournament for Gavin Smith

The poker world had a significant loss on 14th January with the passing of WSOP bracelet winner and legend Gavin Smith. So, in honor of the Canadian poker pro and to help his family, a $200 buy-in tournament will be hosted at the Rio All-suite Hotel & Casino just one day before the first bracelet event at the WSOP.

Smith passed on 14th January at his home in Houston, Texas and survived by his two sons Kingston and Keegan. This news hit the poker community hard with many players taking Twitter to express their grief.

On 28th May at 6pm, the Rio All-Suite Hotel &Casino will play host to a charity poker tournament benefitting the children of Gavin Smith. The event is meant to benefit the Gavin Smith Memorial Fund will be a rake free event, with one half of the money collected going to charity while the other half will be kept for the prize pool. The tournament will take place in the Pavilion, a room inside the Rio Convention Center one day before the first bracelet event at WSOP 2019 starts.
