The first starting flight of European Poker Tour(EPT) Sochi ₽191,800 EPT Main Event hit the floors of Casino Sochi on 24th March. It began with 251 runners, but at the end it was reduced to 95 only. Team India fielded 5 challengers in event- Aditya Sushant, Kartik Ved and Jayjit Ray with Sriharsha Doddapaneni and Anant Purohit. Ved, Ray and Purohit were the only Indians to make cut for Day 2 and carried the forward stacks of 19,700, 76,500 and 79,000 respectively.
Russia’s Aleksandr Denisov topped 95 survivors and bagged 498,600 chips. Following him is Ukraine’s Illia Korobkin with 352,700 chips. Roman Gadzhiev dominated the day from level 6 and eliminated several opponents to secure the lead and bagged 240,9000 chips.
PSPC Champion and Team PokerStars member Ramon Colillas also worked his way up to bag 134K chips at the end of Day 1A. Other notables include Yaniv Peretz with 49.1k chips and Tomas Macnamara with 18.7k chips.
Among the Indian contingent, Purohit sits as a leader with Ray at second place. He won the EPT Sochi Qualifier on PokerStars India and earned paid trip to the venue. He even made a mark in DPTX Sikkim and will be looking to make headlines in Sochi.
