The World Poker Tour Vietnam VND 50,000,000 (₹1.49 Lakhs) buy-in High Roller kicked off at Pro Poker Club on 22nd March. Team India again came out in big numbers. A total of 64 entries attracted on Day 1A and a trio of Kalyan Chakravarthy (16,96,000), Abhinav Iyer (5,78,000) and Nikunj Jhunjhunwala (2,05,000) were the prominent names amidst of 13 survivors.
The turnout on Day1B was much better and with both starting flights now there are a total of 54 players advancing to Day 2. Kalyan Chakravarthy is leading the field with a massive stack of 16,96,000. He has been quite active in high roller tournaments. He even has a WPT title to his name as he won ₹100K High Roller at WPT India (₹37.53 Lakhs) last year. He was at the fourth position among 19 survivors in the Super High Rollers and eventually made it to the final table where he finished 8th for VND 200,230,000 (₹5.91 Lakhs).
Abhinav Iyer is no stranger to tournament success in Vietnam. He took down the VND 8 Billion GTD Main Event at the APT Vietnam 2019 in January for VND 2,269,092,000 (₹69.51 Lakhs). Nikunj Jhunjhunwala took down the 2018 WPT India Main Event ₹66.35 Lakhs is another top Indian challenger in contention.
