Recently, the coastal state of Goa that is the casino-hub of the country played host to the SPiCE 2019(Strategic Platform for iGaming Conference and Exhibition. It was organized at the Goa Marriott Resort and Spa from 25th to 27th February. With many stakeholders of Indian and International gaming industry in attendance, including Poker consultant Aditya Wadhwani, PokerStars CEO Ankur Dewani and CEO of Baadshah Gaming Madhav Gupta and others. A wide range of topics were discussed related to poker, sports betting, fantasy sports, gaming and casino operations in India.
The panel discussions also covered issues like the likely effect of elections and the current political scenario in India. For example, the gambling and sports betting industry, growth of online poker, direct and indirect taxes and poker leagues.
The event started with a networking cum cocktail party on the first day. The opening remarks were made by the Chairperson Christina Thakor-Rankin, Principal Consultant,1710 Gaming Ltd, UK. She said “The market in the UK is regulated, and here in India, we look forward to the same, but firstly we need to come together by forming associations and standing together. Outside, we can be competitors, but we overall, need to be together as an industry”.
SPiCE is the second conference organized by Eventus International in India. The company also held the Sports Betting and Gaming India conference in February in Goa.
