The World Poker Tour Fallsview 2019 CAD $5,000 buy-in Main Event saw a record of 602 entries. The huge turnout created a prize pool of CAD $2,744, 518 ($2,082,991). After three days of action, Canada’s Demo Kiriopoulos emerged as the champion. He took down the event for CAD 517,424($392,059) and his first WPT title.
Kiriopoulos also won a $15,000 entry into the season-ending Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions. He also added 1,200 to his tally in the Hublot WPT Player of the Year race where now he stands 12th. With plans to attend the WPT Barcelona, he looks well on his way to climb up the rankings.
When the final day began with 19 players, Kiriopoulos was placed relatively low in the rankings. Chanracy Khun was the only WPT Champions Club member still in contention. A crucial double up through James Morgan saw Kiriopoulos chip up and continued to build his stack. Finally, he eliminated Mark Zadjner and Yuvi Siniak to enter the final table with the third biggest stack.
Garrett Dansereau, Day 3 chip leader ended his run on the final table bubble after his ace-ten was cracked by Schwartz pocket kings. With his elimination, the 6 handed final table was formed. Pantling (9,475,000) held a massive chip lead over the rest of the field with Schwartz (4,070,000) a very distant second. Kiriopoulos (2,855,000) was fourth in chips.
