Richard Marquez crowned the PPWC Main Event Champion

The PPPoker World Championship –PHP 55K Main Event crowned Filipino player Richard Marquez its champion. The six-day series began on 15th February in Resorts World Manila and the Main Event itself had a huge guarantee of PHP  20 million (INR 2.65 Crores).

Rajeev Kanjani was the only Indian to finish in 8th place. He gave tough competition to his opponents that also included Mike Takayama and Lester Edoc.

The final day started with six players and leading the pack was Richard Marquez with 2,795,000 chips. It started with blinds 20k/40k/5k(ante) and Germany’s Hans Homner shoved in first hand, but no callers.

Takayama finished 2nd in the tournament who won a huge pot against Dongkyoon Seo. Later Marquez earned a big pot against Mark Gruendemann in the same level. Seo was the first victim in the race and fell in 6th place for PHP 875K.

Edoc was railed at 3rd place by Marquez for PHP 1,649,000. Then heads-up started at level 26 and the first pot went to Takayama and later pots went to Marquez. Takayama fell at level 27 in the final hand of the series. Finally, Marquez shipped the tournament with two pairs.

Marquez earned his biggest live cash in PokerStars Manila Super Series Main Event 2018 for $14,146 as runner-up cash prize. This win of PHP 4,850,000(INR 66.21 Lakhs) proves to be a huge bankroll for him.  It is more than half of his total earnings.
