Currently, everyone is talking about the PPPoker World Championship 2019 which kicked off on 15th February 2019. The highlight was PHP 20 million GTD Main Event, but everyone was also watching for Teams Event where 10 countries participated, but Team India wasn’t able to progress to Day2.
The players weren’t going to leave Resorts World Manila without big achievements so they joined the Main Event, each paying the PHP 55,000 (INR 75,000) Buy-In. A total of 64 players signed up the action. Only 22 progressed from the starting flight on Day1A.
There were four Indians, including three at the top so we are expecting good news in the next couple of days. Abhinav Iyer, the APT Vietnam Main Event Champion leading the chip counts with 20K, while Kalyan Chakravarthy is in the second place with 206K chips.
Mark Aguilar secured the third place in chip counts. Aditya Sushant, India’s first WSOP bracelet winner emerged with the fourth highest stack taking away 116K chips. Jasven Saigal also progressed from Team India with 19K chips in his bag.
Iyer was slowly chipping up all day, but the turning point was on the latter half when he took all of Alex Lee’s stack winning with a set over two-pair. These 22 players will progress to Day2 which will be played on 19th February 2019.
