Recently, Team India enjoyed an eventful run at the Aussie Millions and three poker pros stayed behind for an extended vacation. The trio were none other than WSOP 2017 bracelet winner Aditya Sushant, 2019 APT Vietnam Main Event winner Abhinav Iyer and Mumbai based pro Vinod Megalmani. Sushant banked (₹5.77 Lakhs) for taking down the Weekly Wednesday at the Star Poker Sydney. Iyer and Megalmani chopped A$150 NLHE Monday MegaStack at Casino Crown Melbourne. While Megalmani claimed the top spot for ₹1.16 Lakhs and Iyer finished runner-up for ₹73,845.
The Weekly Wednesday at the Star Poker brings in between 130 and 160 players and offers attractive prize pools. On 14th February, the event drew in 136 runners creating a prize pool of $40,800. Out of the 15 players who finished in the money were Claudio Nobili (10th for $836), Bruce Hall (11th for $836), Zizheng Huang (12th for $836), Anthony Barry (13th for $689), Yukimasa Imaizumi (14th for $689) and Salvatore Lucisano (15th for $689).
Megalmani, Iyer and Sushant were part of a small Indian group present at this year’s Aussie Millions. Megalmani and Sushant were the only Indians to post scores at the series. While Sushant scoring in the A$1,150 Hyper Turbo (25th for ₹1.22 Lakhs) and A$10,600 Main Event (87th for ₹8.07 Lakhs), Megalmani final tabled the A$1,150 Terminator (5th for ₹6.87 Lakhs) for his career best live score.
