PokerStars announced a revamp of its Stars Rewards program and because of this reward points for MTT players are being reduced. Earlier 100 reward points were awarded for each $/€1 paid towards tournament rake or fees. On 15th February onwards players will get 45 reward points only for the same.
Expecting criticism coming its way from tournament players, PokerStars claimed that the VIP Program needs to evolve. Severin Rasset, director of Poker Innovation and Operations said that the rewards points were specifically reduced where they would have ‘least impact’. It was designed to allow the company to focus rewards where the impact would be greater.
The boost feature has been removed from the rewards program and the value that players gained from it earlier will be shifted to the Chests. Instead, an ‘exchange’ feature will be rolled out. It will allow the players to trade in their current progress for claiming a reward instantaneously.
Meanwhile WPTDeepStacks has entered a three-year partnership with 888poker. The brands will host events in Portugal and Malta later in the year. With the announcement of ‘PlayTime with KittyPlays’ starting its live stream in front of the live audience at the HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas, the WPT is looking at benefitting from show’s sizeable gaming audience.
