Nepal is following the Indian footsteps into the skillful world of poker and other allied card games as they boost up their casino industry with several optimistic movements in this sector. After the well anticipated and needlessly delayed soft launch of the Tiger Palace Resort Bhairahawa, from Silver Heritage Group, which was scheduled to open its doors to players on November 30th, several new ones have also been making an entry into the Nepalese scene.
Recently, Delta Corp Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding i.e. MoU with the Nepalese company Everest Hospitality and Hotel Pvt Ltd, to operate a casino within the premises of their flagship Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu, which is perceived to be a Naxalite area. Delta Corp Ltd is India’s largest gaming company and also the only one listed in BSE. The Marriott at Kathmandu is a whopping 235-room five star hotel and resort which will begin its operations in June, 2018. The property has definitely tweaked our hopes up as it promises the collaboration of two top class hospitality and entertainment brands to be working together.
The Everest Hospitality and Hotel (Pvt) Ltd who owns their flagship Marriot hotel, is a subsidiary of the reputed M S Group, which is one of the most successful leading business conglomerates in Nepal. The group has already begun its operations in the luxury hospitality sector with its first hotel named Fairfield also by Marriott, which has begun its operations from March this year.
The group recently released an official statement, saying “Delta Corp Ltd has signed in a MoU with Everest Hospitality and Hotel (P) Ltd for leasing space at the upcoming 5 Star Marriott Hotel to be opened in Kathmandu, Nepal to operate a casino. Delta Corp itself will initiate steps to obtain a license from the Government of Nepal and the commencement of operations of the casino will be subject to receipt of this license.
With this proposal of a casino in Kathmandu, Delta Corp aims to expand its imprint outside of India, in line with its business vision of expanding in the South East Asian region.”
Delta Corp is also the owner and operator of Deltin Daman integrated resort in the Indian Union Territory – Daman and Diu along with several other gaming properties that also includes three off shore casinos in Goa that are live and one land based one in the beach state.
